Destanni completed her education at Fort Myers Senior High School where she was also part of the school basketball team. Destanni started her basketball career in high school and also played at the Amateur Athletic Union. She was named Class 7A all-state second team and as a sophomore, she helped her team through the class 6A state championship. The following year, she recorded an average score of 17.7 points and led the team to win the Class 7a title. In her senior year, she managed to secure a third consecutive win at the state championship. She recorded an excellent high school record and was ranked as a five-star recruit by ESPN. To further her college career, she joined South Carolina University and started playing as the point guard for South Carolina Gamecocks. She debut her college career in a match against Alabama state and recorded an average of 5.5 points and 1.4 assists per game.
She was also selected for the southeastern conference all-freshman team. The following year, she maintained her form and led the team to the SEC semifinals. In her junior year as well, she proved to be an asset to the team and led the team to the 2021 NCAA Division 1 tournament and was named first-team all-SEC. She is also a part of the US national team and represented the country in the 2016 FIBA under 17world championship in Spain also recently in 2021 she joined the US senior national team at FIBA Americup and led the team to win gold. She also runs a clothing apparel brand clothing by HP. Recently, at the 2022 NCAA National championship, she led the team to win the finals against the University of Connecticut and was named NCAA All-Tournament team.
