Collin Gosselin Is Doing ‘Very Well’ in Bootcamp After Enlisting in the Military, According to Jon Gosselin
After Collin Gosselin, a teenager, joined the U.S. Marine Corps early this year, Jon Gosselin kept in touch with his son.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight that was released on Tuesday, August 22, Jon, 46, said, “I got some letters from him from boot camp, from Parris Island.” He is doing fantastic; all he speaks about is training. He said that he was genuinely strapped for time.
Collin, 19, was praised by Jon as being “super independent” and having lived “on his own a little bit during high school.” The former member of Jon and Kate Plus 8 added that his kid “enlisted at 18 and he left when he was 19,” which, according to Jon, “taught him to grow up a lot faster.”
With his ex-wife Kate Gosselin, Jon has twins Mady and Cara, 22, and sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Alexis, Aaden, Leah, and Joel, 19. Kate, 48, was initially given full custody of his eight children after his divorce in 2009. This month, Jon asserted that his ex-wife “segregated” him from his family at that point.
He said on August 1 in an interview with The U.S. Sun that “it was Kate and the kids and that was it,” adding, “She doesn’t talk to her own family, so she tried to segregate me from mine until I woke up one day.”
Despite spending years apart from his kids, Jon has been a present father to Collin and Hannah, who moved in with him in 2018. Two years after Kate had Collin institutionalized, he decided to move in with Jon.
On a July edition of Vice’s Dark Side of the 2000s series, Collin accused his mother of being “abusive.” He asserted that his mother reportedly abused him and sent him to the Fairmont Behavioural Health Institute in 2016 so that no one would “catch the wind” of it.
In the video, Hannah described how Collin had been “separated” from her and their other siblings before being transferred away to take care of his “special needs.”
In a statement on July 21, Kate refuted the allegations, saying Collin “has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses.” Kate allegedly “many attacks/outbursts” caused Collin to be admitted to the rehab center.
Although she emphasized that Collin still had “all [her] heart,” she insisted that he was still “a very troubled young man who continues to need a lot of help.”
The following day, Jon shot back at his ex-wife’s assertion, telling The U.S. Sun that Kate’s claims about Collin were “false.” The mother hitting her son in front of the public is not an example of true love for a child, Jon continued. “Remember that Collin’s father was given sole legal and physical custody by a judge.”
Collin indicated that he intended to serve in the military after graduating from high school in the run-up to the family drama docuseries. Collin described his five-year plan in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in November 2022. “[I will] hopefully [be] in the Marine Corps, exploring my interest in acting, and, you know, I do want to open my own business,” Collin said. “I’m intrigued by the simple notion that you can choose your own schedule and work for yourself. I adore that.
