The best way to farm adhesive in Fallout 4 is to craft vegetable starch from a cooking station. Each vegetable starch will yield 5 adhesive.
Alternatively, you can find junk items that can be scrapped into adhesive, all around the Commonwealth.
Or as a third option you can also buy a shipment of 25 adhesives from an NPC (explained below).
That said, here’s a list of all the items that can be converted into adhesive:
Item | Yield |
---|---|
Economy wonderglue | 5 |
Vegetable starch | 5 |
Pack of duct tape | 4 |
Military grade duct tape | 4 |
Sealed wonderglue | 4 |
Wonderglue | 2 |
Duct tape | 1 |
Method 1: Crafting Vegetable Starch
In order to craft vegetable starch you will need:
- 3 corn
- 3 mutfruit
- 3 tato
- 1 purified water
- And a cooking station
You can find corn, mutfruit, and tato planted at the Graygarden settlement.
The easiest way to find purified water is in Doctor Sun’s house in Diamond City. You should find 8 bottles there.
This is the location of those items on the map:
Alternatively, you can plant tato, mutfruit and corn at one of your settlements and have a lifetime supply of them.
For a consistent supply of purified water, you can add a water pump or water purifiers to one of your settlements.
Note: Make sure you meet the requirements for all the objects you build. Farming requires settlers, and water purifiers require power and a water source.
Method 2: Finding Junk Items That Contain Adhesive
Adhesive is one of the least common resources in Fallout 4. You will find it in the form of duct tape and different types of glues.
These items are randomly found throughout the Commonwealth, but there’s not a single place with an abundance of them.
The only place where you consistently find items containing adhesive are red toolboxes.
Tip: Most items in Fallout 4 take around 7 days to respawn. It’s a good idea to cycle between crafting vegetable starch and picking up items, for efficient farming.
This is where red toolboxes can be found:
Location | Amount |
---|---|
Vault 114 | 7 |
Weston water treatment plant | 6 |
Park street station | 5 |
The institute (FEV lab) | 5 |
Sentinel site | 5 |
Yangtze | 4 |
And this is their location on the map:
After finding the items you were looking for, this is how you can convert them into adhesive:
Tip: When you use the STORE ALL JUNK option, remember that you might not want to store and scrap valuable items.
Method 3: Buying Adhesive From An NPC
Buying adhesive from an NPC is the easiest and fastest method, but also the most expensive.
Another advantage of buying shipments is that you don’t have to carry the weight of the junk items.
To use a shipment, store it inside a crafting station, and once you start crafting, the shipment will break down into individual pieces of adhesive.
This is a list of all the NPCs that sell shipments of adhesive:
NPC | Location | Shipment’s Size |
---|---|---|
Daisy | Goodneighbor | 25 |
Brother Ogden | Crater of Atom | 25 |
Penny Fitzgerald | Covenant | 25 |
Myrna | Diamond City Surplus (Dayshift) | 25 |
Percy | Diamond City Surplus (Nightshift) | 25 |
And this is their location on the map of the Commonwealth:
