TORREY, Utah—Capitol Reef National Park is getting several things ready including additions to their app and visitors’ center exhibits in preparation for the busy season.
They will be opening their new visitor center exhibits on Pi Day, March 14, along with the Gifford House.
The Capitol Reef section of the NPS app will now feature a newly added self-guided audio tour of the Scenic Drive.
Superintendent Sue Fritzke expressed the importance of the new visitor center exhibits.
“These exhibits, representing the efforts of many past and present employees, more fully represent the myriad stories and resources of this park, and are a fitting improvement in our 50th year as a national park.”
This project utilized recreation fee dollars to improve and update the visitor center.
The release stated, “Many thanks to those that helped to bring these new exhibits into existence including professors and students from the Utah Valley University Photography program, Southern Custom Exhibits, and the Capitol Reef Natural History Association. The visitor center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The historic Gifford House, one mile south of the visitor center, will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a closure from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. Stop by this historic homestead to learn more about pioneer life in Fruita and purchase baked goods. On March 14th, pies will be $3.14 each, the regular price will be $7.50.”
