Forza Horizon 5 has some of the best post-launch content for a racing game out there. Each season brings new and engaging challenges, and we love having a reason to get back to the game, even if it is just to complete a Hard Charger Skill.

Throughout your time in Mexico & Forza Horizon 5, players are tasked with accomplishing a number of tasks and completing certain skills. One such skill is a Hard Charger Skill. It might seem tough to pull off based on the name alone, but it isn’t once players get the hang of the controls. In fact, once players understand the mechanics of this skill and the others it plays into, they should be using it every time they sit down to drive.

How to Earn a Hard Charger Skill in Forza Horizon 5

To perform a Hard Charger Skill in Forza Horizon 5, players first need to perform a Burnout Skill by stopping the car and holding down both triggers for two to three seconds while the car revs up and the wheels spin. Then, once the Burnout Skill has been achieved, players can let go of the brake, and the vehicle they’re driving should accelerate away. This will cause the Hard Charger Skill to pop at the top of the screen.

Depending on whether players are using a keyboard and mouse or controller, the controls for this will change. On a controller, which is what most players use, the acceleration and brake are mapped to RT and LT, respectively. So players will need to hold both for the Burnout Skill and then let go of the brake for the Hard Charger Skill.

Once players have performed the Hard Charger Skill, it makes sense to roll it into a Speed Skill. This is as easy as using an S1 or S2 class car to try to hit 200 MPH after the Burnout and Hard Charger Skills. It’s a natural evolution of these skills, and it feels fantastic when racing along Forza Horizon 5’s roads at that sort of speed.

In order to perform the Hard Charger Skill as quickly as possible, we recommend going to an area like the highway that is located in the center of the map or one of the drag race destinations. The best way to achieve a Speed Skill is to drive in a straight line, without any turns. There are plenty of these throughout the world in Forza Horizon 5, but it’s worth seeking out an incredibly long section of road, not simply making do with the closest.

Why Do I Need to Perform a Hard Charger Skill?

The latest reason players will need to perform a Hard Charger Skill is because of the seasonal challenges for Forza Horizon 5 Series 28. These challenges can be found in the game’s Arcade menu. One of the challenges from the second week of the Series requires players to perform Speed Skills, which is exactly what the Hard Charger is required for.
